Battle.net account and wow account different names

Hey guys

What if, hypothetically of course, "a friend of mine" has been playing an account since late Burning Crusade, merged the account onto a Battle.Net account when that came out. But with his real name on it (Different from name on wow account).

Which means "he" isn't actually the original owner of the account but original battle.net account. Once he had to take off the authenticator, he sent in some ID for the battle.net account and got the authenticator removed and even got to change the secret Q/A (I think of the wow account).

My question is: Is my "friend" safe?

Sounds like your "friend" already accomplished what he wanted to do so if no account action was taken right away then nothing should happen. In my experience with Blizzard and all their antics, he shouldn't have any issues with the merged account unless it is locked/banned and he is attempting to remove the restrictions. At which point they will say "oh, it looks like the name registered to this license is different then the name you registered your battle.net account to. The only way we would lift this ban is if the original owner contacts us and provides a photo of their ID."

And if the original owner did contact them to get the ban lifted they would probably just use that as proof that he bought the account and then ban all his licenses. Now assuming this previously unmerged account was actually created by him under a name other than his own, that was a dumb mistake and Blizzard will treat it as if he bought it then merged it to his own battle.net :P Again this only applies if it is locked/banned and he wants to get the restrictions removed.

TL;DR version: Your "friend" will be safe as long as he doesn't attempt to unlock/unban/remove that license.

Ok sounds good, i guess I guess best option is just to not think about it and keep playing like everyone else? Also I know original owner IRL so it wouldn't be a problem to be honest. I'm just afraid of the different name on wow account if i actually need to provide ID's regarding my battle.net account. I've done it once as stated, wasn't a problem back then. Then again I'm almost original owner as i've been playing since late BC on it :P

EDIT: Also want to ask, let's say I get banned, I send in photo ID, but since it's all one battle.net account I send ID of my battle.net, I guess everyone has to do it that way?
