That's exactly why I always advise people to not accept any payments as friends & family / gift. There's also an option to disable payment receival (no one can send payments to your account).

I always tell people to send an invoice to whoever they are dealing with (money request). It's a great way to get the seller protection in case the buyer decides to file a dispute / claim.

He tried to scam me a couple of days too , same dude. I told him to send me the sum we agreed on , and he sent me a paypal invoice and said paypal has some issues and the payment will proceed in a couple of hours. Why is he not banned yet :|?

the scam isnt really based on the family and friends option , the main idea behind this scam attempt is the fact the scammer actually sends you an invoice , as in a request for you to pay him and then he marks it as paid which creates the confusion if you check the transaction in paypal log you see its a payment request from you to his acc

No option is safe, I just got charged back this morning on a nearly two month old transaction, that was via goods and services. Claim was "unauthorized" so it is on me to prove the buyer was actually himself.

Paypal sucks, it is a scammer's wet dream.

Funny, I got charged back this morning too on a month old transaction, was also done via goods & services. Claim was "unauthorized". I called PayPal and they ruled the case in my favor and released the money & closed the case almost immediately.

PS: You don't need to "prove", all you need to do is call PayPal and speak to an agent and ask to resolve the claim. Tell them it's an intangible service that you sold and under seller protection you should be fully protected even in the case of an unauthorized claim (It's what I always do in cases like these to get the funds released & case closed in my favor).
