    Getting DC.. help please.

Ok, Blizz failed to help, but you might have some ideas whats happening to my wow! For 2 days ago I began to have DC very, very often, some times 5-6 DC in 5 mins. No lag, mo latency, just BOOM HEADSHOT, you are DC´ed. That happens to all my accounts, to all characters. I have reinstalled whole windows and whole wow(Was time to do it anyway, so) but it didnt helped. deleted all WTF, Addons and so on maps, didnt helped either. Someone said me to go to netcard, and uncheck "checksum offload" But I could find that row in my settings, it is just simple not there! Anyone have any idea? I am using windows XP sp2. With cable internet, LAN with an Robotics router. Thanks for any help!

Nope, nothing at all, just getting booted from the game to character screen whole time. I even changed my pass several times thinking was someone who was trying to log, didnt helped.

Can you stream large amounts of data off the web?

IE, hit up youtube or google videos and find a large clip, and watch it without buffering like crazy? Did you add anything to your local network recently?

Did you install software on another PC on that lan? I'd try isolating your computer, disconnect everything else just to see. Also, are you hard-wired into the lan, or is it wireless? If wireless, try hard-wiring it.

Does the routher automatically download and install updates? If so, could be a software update that's causing the problems.

If all else fails, try connecting your computer directly to the cable modem.

Respond with anything you find out, will keep an eye on this thread and see if I can offer any further suggestions.

I have problems with buffering indeed last days, tho no bigger ones, not "like crazy".. some videos just refuse to load ^^

I am hard wired to my router, tried to use wireless didnt worked out that well. I have reinstalled my whole windows (was time for it anyway lol) and wow in hope it helps.. it didnt. Not using any addons.

I am connected to cable modem now, not to router.. same problem. And how do you totally isolate your PC btw?
    Thanks for trying to help

also after doing this delete all your addons and redownload them to make sure they are for the current patch.

When they make new addons for new patches, you should always delete the addon and installe it fresh.

Also if none of the above works try defragging your hard drive.

Ok. You've done the right thing, and pretty much ruled out any software settings as the problem by formatting and completely reloading windows and wow. I had a similar problem awhile back with my DSL modem, and after hours of conversations with the ISP, they finally came out and checked it, and it was a bad drop from the phone company. After they replaced the line from the pole, the problem was solved.

Being as you're on cable, this is less likely the case, but it could be.

By connecting directly to the modem you've isolated it. Does the modem itself have a built in router or firewall? I know some have that option now, more cable for DSL modems, but some cable do it as well. If so, there could be some new port blocking going on.

If I were in your position, the next steps I would take would be to contact your ISP and explain the situation. Explain what you have done, and the problems you are experiencing, see if it's known to them (they may be upgrading hardware, and experiencing down time because of it.)

One last thing i'd suggest -- find out the default gateway of the ISP. Not a local one.. IE, if you run NAT, and connect multiple computers to your lan, you'll have a default gateway on the LAN side, and a default gateway on the WAN side. The LAN side will be something like 10.0.0.x, or 192.168.0.x -- since your computer is directly connected to the modem right now, the default gateway listed should be the ISP's.

An easy way to find it:
    Start -> run -> cmd <enter>
    ipconfig /all

    Now, do a:
    ping -t <gateway>

When my ISP is having difficulties, I regularly do this, to see where the problem lies. If you see a bunch of timeouts during this ping, then it's a problem between your modem and the cable company. If they all get through, then it's more than likely a problem somewhere between the cable company and your destination.

Another thing to try is a "tracert us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com"
This is basically an IP road map between your computer and the WoW world login server. It can also be useful in determining where the break in communication is happening.
