I regularly make use of cross-realm grouping to farm without bothering other people, usually by asking one of my friends to invite me to a dead realm.
Since I did not want to bother my friends every time I need to farm something, I decided to level up a second account of my own - solely with the purpose of giving me 24/7 access to a dead realm.
As of now, I have two new level 90 characters on a very low populated French server. My main account is located on a very high populated German server. However, when trying to get my main character on that dead French realm, things get rather fishy.
Usually, one level 90 character is enough to get my main transferred to any realm, provided he is being invited. In this case, however, whenever I'm invited by one of my toons on that dead French realm, my main stays on the German server and the toon stays on the French one - instead of getting phased onto one server, the characters stay seperated, unable to see each other. Same applies when my main is being invited by a group of both of my French level 90 toons - they stay on the French server and my main on the German one, unable to see each other.
However, when I invite the French toons with my German main character, they both get transferred to the German realm - even if I invite both of them (which usually should not happen) and we're able to see and play with each other.
This has lead me to believe that there might be requirements other than just reaching max level if you want to be able to invite other people to your realm, e.g. some sort of quest progress or a minimum item level. It always worked perfectly fine when my friends invited me and their toons have progressed quite a bit. Also, it works the other way around when I invite my toons with my main, who has progressed the game a lot as well.
So I tried to determine if I needed a couple of quests and items for it to work. I geared my toons with some greens and finished the questline leading me to pandaria as well as the one leading to the opening of the gates to the vale of eternal blossoms - but it made no difference. Then I thought maybe the game automatically chose the server according to the language specified in my settings - so I changed that to French - but it made no difference.
At this point, I simply do not know what else to try. I mean, it can't be a language thing since it works perfectly fine when I invite my French toons with my German main - but why in God's name won't it work the other way around? Is there a specific quest I need to complete or an itemlevel I need to reach for it to work?
I'm getting really desperate and would very, very much appreciate any sort of help or hints!!
Best regards!
