Does anyone know how to avoid having gear removed?

Speaking about the bug that recently happened, where some players had a 28.2k Conquest Cap, and could get full Grievous, Blizzard are now apparently starting to remove any excess items.

Does anyone know a way to avoid having items removed?

    I was thinking:

    - Void Storage
    - Deleting character until things calm down, then restoring it.
    - Deleting all Grievous items, then restoring them with the Item Restoration tool.

Does anyone know any other ways? Is there any guaranteed ways? And what do you think of my suggested ways?
