worth trying to sell WoW account in 2012?

I thought of selling my WoW account in 2009. I changed my mind.

I haven't played since my last post here on the forum, so sometime in 2011. My account is still active though because I own a large guild.

My account has 85 every of class, a level 25 guild with 900 members, a few bank alt guilds that have 6 bank tabs, etc. All my characters have master riding with all the world events complete. My best character has 10k achievement points.

Think it's worth it? My real name is obviously on the account. I also have Diablo 3 on the account, but if I could get a good price I could part with it. WoW, BC, WOTLK Regular editions - Cataclysm Collectors.

I have heard of some horror stories of paypal flopping on things like this and sellers losing their money and accounts being disabled. So maybe it's not worth it.

A friend sold his WoW account for $600 in 2005. I don't know if they are worth that much now, but my account has probably more than most people.

    Thoughts?

worth trying to sell WoW account in 2012?

depends if it's worth the time and price.

I don't want to give up all my personal info and then have the buyer try to flip on me and I lose the payment.

I want to hear from people who have actually sold accounts.

Your account should be worth a nice amount of money if you got a 85 of every race, and the guild alone is worth a lot. The rest really depends on the gear/fos/mounts.

You should get a nice chunk of money out of it, but I wouldn't expect as much as 600 usd.

It's worth a couple hundred dollars seeing how it has all copies of WoW + collectors + newly purchased Diablo 3.

I need to know if it's worth the trouble though. I want to get paid, no wishy washy no flips.

What sites do you guys recommend?

I would recommend a private buyer as nearly all those account buying websites are paying for much less than your account is worth.

So how should I go about advertising this?

How many people actually give up their account before the payment is done? I have only used paypal once before back in 2004 and I was scammed, I sent the payment first - not WoW related.

Is there a better method than paypal and how should I go about this whole ordeal?

You want the buyer to pay you first, and try to find someone who's id or/and paypay verified unless the person got a nice chunk of rep here.

But you can also give your account up before payment is done. If he decide to scam you, you can get it back by writing a email or calling them telling them you were hacked (PM me or add my skype; pyrocoke, if you wish to have an example).

I'm about to sleep, maybe you can help me out tomorrow I appreciate it.

Do you trust paypal though? I constantly here about how paypal can side with the wrong party. AKA the seller or buyer for whatever item can get screwed big time.

If I do sell this, I want that money in the paypal and then I want to cash it out right away. I don't want money sitting there.

I trust PayPal, but I'm pretty new in using it so I have not yet been scammed there, but maybe because I only do trades with well known users.

Yeah, I can help you out, just contact me here on the forums or skype.

Looking at some prices on other sites I want at least $800.

I want to know more about this.

Who has dealt with playerauctions.com or gametag? I read these names on other sites. Then I look at reviews and some are horrid - gave my account info, never received a message back.

Once you send your info you have nothing. In a matter of minutes someone can take your gold and delete your characters.

I need a site I can sell to directly or a legit place I can advertise.

    Help me out here.

800$ seems a bit much tbh, im seeling a WoW account with 3 months gametime, 8 85s and all are 400 ilvl geared for 200$ only. And ive had it up on Playerauctions.com for 3 weeks and I dont really think its any good cuz its very small traffic there.
I would go for advertising it on Ownedcore forums cuz I think thats your best chance of selling it.

You will never get $800, just being honest. Those sites you see on here selling 'high-end accounts' for $2500 have been bumping up the same posts since they started, because nobody is paying that much for a WoW account anymore, regardless of how "rare' it is. Level 85 is worthless now with SoR, so it doesn't really matter if you have 12 or 2, the real value is in your level 25 guild (about $150 bucks give or take), and whatever rare mounts/titles you have. I'd say probably about $350-400 would get it sold.
