Is gathering herbs/ores with bot safe?

Hello,
I've heard so many rumours that gathering herbs/ores with bot is not as safe as it used to be. I am using honorbuddy and I know a lot of players saying that they were banned because of the "new method" where blizzard is tracking your steps (hotspots). Is that true? Is there any proven way how to avoid ban when using this type of bot? Is there any difference when using gatherbuddy or grind bot with "gather herbs and ores"? Thanks in advance!

Using bot isn't safe !! If you don't want lose your account, don't bot, it's simple.

There aren't a ban wave, Blizzard continue, and will continue to ban botters, it's like a war.

If you bot with custom profils, not during a long time, if you take some break, if you change zone, it's more safe but Blizzard can banned you at anytime, think about it.

I used to ban every single night (for about 3 months). The same profile in cata to mine ore. Never 1 ban from it, I used to fish bot every night(for about 1 month) in MoP no ban. Lastly, straight up herb and occasional herb botted in Townlong, same profile, not 1 ban. So... Think you get the point.

It also helps if you play like a real player from time to time. Do quest, LFD/LFR, scenario, PVP, etc make it look like it's live.

Try to keep botting to a couple hours with short 30 min break and no more than 6-8 a day.

Most importantly, don't flood AH. It raises red flag if one person seems to have 1000 stacks of the same thing in an instant.
