it has nothing to do with a quest or something else. You can make it everytime.
The Wings are permanent, they only disappear in arena and RatedBG.
There is a way, to have the wings also in Arena/RBG but this is not known for me how it works, i only know the normal way of doing it.

The thing i won´t tell it at the moment is the fact that i make good gold with this exclusive bug, sometime i will make a guide and tell the unlogical method to get it.

Fly far above a FLYING Ik'thik warrior and have auto dismount enabled in your options. After reaching a height which would kill you instantly after falling, hit your stealth button ultimately falling to your death. With the disguise / pickpocket glyphs embedded on your way past the Ik'thik warrior while rapidly descending spam your pickpocket button. You will hit the ground and die. Keep repeating this until you get your wings. Make sure that you are in range to pickpocket as you pass the mob. Free of charge, you're welcome.

Be warned blizzard will probably fix this as I logged in earlier today and my wings were gone and I had to reacquire them in the same fashion. Too bad. Hunters got to keep most of their bugged tames from Cata and BC etc. Makes me a little jealous I missed out on all of it with my hunter who's been around since vanilla because the tricks weren't widely known, which was my main reasoning behind posting this method so that all could enjoy it while it lasted.

Well it did when I tried it and got them 5 different times. You can give up though. *shrug*

If you DO manage to get them remember to remove the disguise glyph; if you do not then every time you pickpocket another humanoid mob you'll lose the wings and have to reacquire them in the same fashion.

Keep in mind you need to use the It'thik warriors that are flying. If you use the ones on the ground, youll likely die before the cast goes off. Make sure youre using glyph of pickpocket too as stated in the method, I overlooked that bit.
