Blizzard updated the Armory to implement item searching.
You can now click on an item on someones armory page and bring up the stats or search for it.

I still prefer thottbot, since I run multiple games on my pc at once from time to time. As a user above me said, It makes my pc lag.

ya also on thottbot u can get the item ids and other stuff thats for private servers and other thing and armory lags to much even on my computer(4gb of ram and everything else almost top of the line)

i use wowhead.com myself, but i use armory just to check guilds and/or characters, because it lags too much, too much of flash
