Horde with alliance hearth/mount

OK, was going to post it in exploits to get a more in-depth crowd to figure this out, but it is still in the question (AKA WTF happened) stage. I will list the order of events.

account 1- my account
account 2- GF's account

account 1 sent SOR to account 2.
account 2 accepts SOR.
account 2 levels up a Pandarian Priest to level 12 (level she got to to decide faction).
account 2 joins account 1's guild (HORDE SIDE).
account 2 uses SOR bonus to grant to instant level 80.
This is where it gets really weird.
She was being camped by alliance, i told her to just rez and hearth. So she did. when she hearthed, she went on a loading screen for Eastern Kingdoms, then starting falling through the world, then DC'd. logged back in, fell through the world some more, then ended up in the ALLIANCE area about 2 yards from Captain Armando Ossex - NPC - World of Warcraft <---- him. the hearthstone said it was set to something like Nazims something, im not home right now but i will check it.
I saw this and took the keyboard to start figuring it out. they killed her, so i spirit rezzed, and mounted.... ON A GRYPHON ( Swift Purple Gryphon - Item - World of Warcraft ). This is an alliance only gryphon from what i have read.

What could have happened between SOR acceptance and the instant level 80 that gave her an alliance hearth and faction only mount that is still usable? it looks really badass to sit in org on a gryphon lol.
