    change pet name. client side

ok i know this is just client side and others cant read it.

i am tired of seeing the name klathankath as a void walker name. if i could just change it so i could just see it, that would be fine with me.

first i tried with the CE, i scanned, summoned pat, scanned, summoned a diffenrent pet, finally found it, and i changed the name. i was happy. the only problem is that i have to do that each time. i play, the packet, or code or what not changes each time. i was wondering if anyone here would like to make one, if possible, to share hunters and warlocks that got boned with stupid names.

oh yeah and sorry if i posted this in the wrong place.

You would first have to get the range which your pet's data is stored in and then change the name from there, which is difficult to do... I'm not good at explaining though >_<

Re: change pet name. client side

Information on your character is stored in the ActivePlayer struct in memory, this is inherintly difficult to find a pointer for because of the anti-hack code which chains pointers indirectly to get to the required stuct, the technicalities of it are out of the scope of this discussion, but I'll just say this, it's hard.

The easiest way to pinpoint the struct is to take a value that there are known static read-only offsets for (eg, coordinates), then run a search using the known values for the unkown address, once the address has been found then find the offset which the pet name is stored at, eg ADDRESS_Z + 3A

Basically, unless you're a talented debugger/disassembler who can work around the anti-hack code your only other option is to write a simple app to find the value for your automatically, then modify the value.
