How to block cross-realm zones - Forums - World of Warcraft
This seems legit. Can anyone test this?
Seems like it would be VERY useful to get rares/farming done if you could block yourself from being merged to other realms.

Hmm, so reading the thread I assume that when he got the error he was on his own realm, therefore all rare spawns would be found on your own server because no one technically killed the rare spawns? Hate theorizing, but this does seem like what would happen.

This could work, as long you're not just dced from WoW and that your home server isn't been used as the host for cross realm zoning, don't think there is much Blizzard could do about it either, other than dcing you char, which I don't think they would do cause of people playing WoW in set-ups that only allow certain IPs.
UPDATE: tried this out, by blocking all the realm IPs cept for my home realm, to get it to actually get into the server, had to log into a place where its always the home server zone (ie: org) and then turn on the list via peerblock, can't use hearths to zones that would be CRZ but can zone in normally (went to NT via a zep) at first I was alone and only saw 1 or 2 people from my own realm in a zone though (and got the error message when changing zones) after a while mobs stopped spawning though, like they hot-fixed it or something.

What program did you use to block the IP's to the CRZ servers?
Can someone explain how to do this? The threads talking about this have been deleted.
Wait so if something is in elite, i am not able to be explained it here? i dont rly get that...
So even though im not in elite and i knwo how to do this, im not supposed to say it here or what?
You can say it, they will just remove it.
I discovered the info, and am the op from the wow forums. and didnt get much rep for it and now cant even see what is being said about it.
Here is everything i knew before they moved it to the elite area. It might have been hotfixed already but here it is.
Basically block the realms IP addresses you dont want to be merged into, all except your home realm with peerblock and it will stop it. You will get an "transfer aborted: instance not found" error and be able to room around the zone you are in with just people from your realm. Useful for farming or rare spawns.
Programs: peerblock (any program that can block incoming/outgoing IP address will do i suppose)
blizz server IPs: "/US_realm_list_by_datacenter" at the WoWWiki
How to add IP addresses you want to block with peerblock: google it, cant post new URLs at my member rank.

kinda weird they moved it to elite section while they leeched off wow forum lol
I posted this on MMO-Champion, might as well report my findings here too:
Ok, So this morning I attempted to get CRZ blocking to work. Whether or not it is against the TOS, someone had to test it.
What we know about CRZ: It only applies to each regions timezone. I'm from Australia, so all the Oceanic realms are CRZed for me. This cut down the number of realms I had to block to 12
What do people not like about CRZ: Not able to do their objectives while on a quieter realm, to avoid PVP and to avoid camped rare NPC's.
Using Peerblock I started off by blocking one realm in my timezone: Frostmourne (being that it is the highest population, many people say that lower pops get ported to the higher pop realm). I used this IP list: US realm list by datacenter - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft
I have a character on that realm, so I tried to log into it. I got an error, "Character Not Found", the blocking worked for that realm.
I logged into my home realm, which I will not be saying here, and was able to log in. I was in Shrine at the time, so I took myself to Dalaran. And looked around, I went to the AH and I found people from Barthillas, Jubei'thos and, lo and behold, Frostmourne (the blocked realm)
So that didn't work. I decided to block every realm using a range, and whitelisted my realm. I teleported myself to Stormwind and went out the front. No one was there. Did I block CRZ? Unfortunately, yes. Peerblock reported that when I went into a CRZ it was blocking a realm that was NOT listed in the link above of realm IP addresses, a separate CRZ instance. What this meant was that I was connecting to the the CRZ realm, but I wasn't getting teleported. What this also meant was that NPC's and players were not spawning. I have pictures for proof.
https://i.imgur.com/GrLN3h.jpg Shows the entrance to SW. No NPC's, no players. You would expect to see someone duelling, or guards patrolling.
https://i.imgur.com/8heKDh.jpg Shows Goldshire, I'm well into the CRZ area now. Sometimes you see players in Goldshire duelling as well. But most importantly is the location of the Screenshot, taken right infront of the flight path NPC, notice he's missing.
https://i.imgur.com/uBUzK.png This happened anytime I zoned into a CRZ area, and would continue to happen to attempt to move my character onto the CRZ realm. It also happened if I tried to teleport to Deepholme and Dalaran (while having all realm IPs blocked)
I did try different configurations and unblocking to zone through, but once you were on the CRZ realm, the connection continued, even after being blocked. Relogging didn't change anything, only made me not able to log into my character and getting a "Character Not Found" error.
I can officially say that it is not possible to block CRZ and have NPC's spawn while doing so. So I'm allowed to /thread
Please note: I did not use any unofficial third party applications to modify World of Warcraft in any way. I used Peerblock to tell my computer to stop sending information to the IP's. I have used Peerblock in the past while torrenting.
why did you write in an old thread?
