Question about Selling Gold

I wasn't quite sure where to put this. Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I'm curious which do you all think is better, selling gold privately or selling it to those gold selling sites. I mean you can get twice as much selling privately but I see time and time again private sellers getting ripped off, but then again the sites only pay half as much as private buyers. What do you guys think? Is it worth the risk to sell privately?

Sell to people who offer the most cash tbh (unless you want a fast sale), just make sure they go first unless you know they can be trusted
