Use Item Restoral to move item from one character to another

Wondering if this is possible -
Use the new Item Restore feature to move item from one character to another.

I was thinking about trying this. I am thinking that the item restore feature goes off an internal character ID rather than the toon's name, but I might be wrong.

So, I have an item on a character I no longer play. What I was thinking about trying is this:
1. Sell the item to a vendor.
2. Log completely out.
3. Use the item restoral feature and verify the item is available for restoral.
4. Log back in and delete the character.
5. Roll a new character with the same name.
6. Complete the restoral process.
7. Log in and hope it worked.

Anyone tried this already? Would I be wasting my time?

The characters would have different IDs, so it wouldn't work.

Why would you want to do that anyways? The stash is shared between characters just put all your stuff in the stash and take it out on your new character
