Im trying to not get scammed, and just sell my account legitly.

I know a few people who have sold their accounts at -playerauctions.com Buy/Sell Cheap Wow - Everquest - Eve - Aion - ffxi Accounts online. I guess they also have a system where if someone tries to screw you out of your money they cover it, but because of this they take something like 10% of the amount paid.
