WoW fps lag spikes can't find reason

So I've been getting really bad lag spikes lately, I go from 150-200 to 2-6 at medium settings and at max settings I go from 60-70 to 1-5 fps. The lag spikes can last anywhere from a few seconds to 10 minutes at a time. They come every 2-5 minutes. Triple buffering and vertical sync make no difference.

My laptop is an Asus g50vt-x1, I had it on vista x64 but because of a faulty hard drive I had to buy a new hd and then I installed win7 home prem x64 on it and later upgraded to win7 ult x64. The lag spikes started either when the hard drive went faulty or win7 (I can't remember). Before that I had a constant 60 fps even in dalaran. My computer goes up to 70-80c when gaming, but I hear this is normal for laptops.

I've tried deleting all addons, updating my graphics drivers, running in low settings, cooling pads, ending processes, and many other things that I found online that might help but none work.

    Here are my specs (dxdiag):

Quite possibly the high temperature causing the harddrive and processor to slow down, leading to it giving less space for the game.

What caused the Hard drive before to fail? It could have been the heat.

    Kaidos:

Having a bad internet doesn't affect your framerate. Framerate = Computer; Latency = Internet.

I've tried it with verticle sync and triple buffering both disabled and enabled, triple buffering helped a bit. I'm not sure what caused the hard drive to get messed up, it wasn't heat though but I had problems from the hard drive since I bought it so I think it was bad from the start. But stupid asus says my warranties expired even though it's only been 1 year on a 2 year warranty. Oh and kiev I've tried cooling pads and stuff before but it really didn't do much, before on my old drive my computer would be hot but still run fine so I don't think it's the heat.

I have noticed for me that if you run WoW off of an external hard drive it runs a lot faster.
    Maybe try this?

You might also want to run it in Windowed/Windowed maximized mode.

Try using Leatrix Graphics Fix as well.

Hmmm... its not something to do with that, or else his lag would be continuous.

If its not heat (Which can really slow down computers, (When i leave mine on over night and pick it up in the morning its slow as hell till it cools down) but yeah), then it could be loose wiring in the laptop/failing parts, I would get a professional to take a look inside.

maximized windowed mode increased lag, I always run at windowed mode atm.

    This ^

I play on a laptop too and if you can, open it up and clean off everything(especially fans) with compressed air frequently. The first time I saw my FPS randomly dropping, I opened up the bottom and saw a ball of dust between fan blades and from then on, I made sure to clean out everything every 1-2 weeks. When you have FPS spikes in a laptop, the first step is to see if it correlates with rising temperatures because some laptop processors/video cards will power down a little to protect themselves from exploding. I'd also recommend a program that monitors your computer temperatures.
