I need help from YOU creating part of MMOwned's FAQ.

As some may have seen in the Shared Lounge, I have been tasked with creating the new MMOwned FAQ/Handbook/Rules. You can find the Work-in-progress thread HERE.

Anyways, a section that I really want to get done next is the MMOwned Forum Usability FAQ. So I am giving you guys on MMOwned a chance to help contribute and receive my +7 rep in return (maybe other staff will contribute their rep as well for your hard work).

The how-to's we need are:
How to reply to a thread
How to reply to a thread with a quote
How to create a thread
How to edit your reply / thread
How to report a post / thread
How to send someone a private message and visitor message
How to give reputation
How to report a post
How to create a blog

What we are wanting is:
We want a detailed written + graphical guide on how to do each step.
E.G. How to reply to a thread:
Click on the <button name> found in <x location> etc etc and then include smallish screenshots with the buttons / locations highlighted / circled.

Please post all screenshots as thumbnail links that link to the full sized picture, keep the picture file size as small as possible and keep any drawings / markings / descriptions neat and concise.

We want to keep all the steps similar in look/feel, so we won't be accepting a piece from <X-username> and then another step from <y-username>. Want to rather have 1 person do the whole thing.


You can find similar steps in the old MMOwned handbook http://www.mmowned.com/forums/genera...-handbook.html if you are looking for an example what we want. But would prefer if the pictures were thumbnail links, more descriptive and screenshots / descriptions of the NEW MMOwned theme.

How to reply to a thread:
To reply to a thread you have two options, first you can either use the “Reply to Thread” button which can be found at the top or bottom of the thread. The other option is to go down to the bottom of the thread and use the “Quick reply” feature.


The “Reply to Thread” button should look like this:




How to reply to a thread with a quote:
To reply to someone's post with a quote use the “Reply With Quote” button. Using this button will bring up the quick reply right below the post you are quoting along with their whole post in quote format. From here you can either edit out what parts you don't want to quote or use the whole thing.

How to create a thread:
To post a thread you must first navigate your way to the section which you want to post your thread in, and then use the “Post New Thread” button which can be found at the top or bottom of every forum section. Once this button is used it will load you to a post page where you can enter a thread title, and a field for you to post your thread in.


The “Post New Thread” button should look like this:



How to edit your reply / thread:
To edit your post may it be a thread or reply simply go to the bottom of your post and click on the “Edit Post” button. This will turn your post box into a field for you to edit it, and below this field is a area where you can type your reason for editing the post.

How to report a post / thread:
If you find that a post is spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts, then you should probably report it. To do this navigate down to the bottom of the post that needs to be reported and find the “Report Post” button (blue triangle with the little ! point inside of it). This will load the page to where you can fill in a small field saying why it needed to be reported.

How to send someone a private message and visitor message:
There are two ways to send a private message; the first one is pretty basic. If you are trying to PM somebody from a thread you simply click their name and from the new menu click “Private Message”. When you do this it will load up to the private message page where you can type your message and send it. The other way is to navigate to your inbox, and once there, click the “Send New Message” button and it will bring you to the same message page except now you have to type out the recipients you want to send your message/messages to.

How to give reputation:
So you just read an awesome guide/tutorial/exploit/model edit/ release/etc. Know what you should do? Rep the person who made the thread so they can post something even more awesome. To do this just go down to the bottom of the person’s post who you wish to give rep to, there will be a blue star on the left side; this is the “Reputation button”. This will make a reputation window pop up asking if you approve of their post and to write a comment on the post. Once you have written your post simply hit “Add to Reputation”.

How to create a blog:
To create a blog simply navigate to the top of the site and click on the “BLOGS” button. This will load up the Blogs section of the site, once here you can click “Create New Post” to make your own blog. This field works just like the thread field, except no polls.

I just noticed that the thumbnails for the wider pictures look weird, i can edit them to regular images if you'd like.

How to reply to a thread.
On the bottom of a forum thread you will find a box named "Quick reply", that looks like this:

In that box you can write your reply, and finalize it by pressing "Post quick reply".
If you hit the "Advanced Options" - button, you enter the same options as when making a thread.

Pressing the "Preview post" - button in advanced mode will let you see the reply before you post it, to check it for spelling errors or how images and links will look like.
Hitting the "Submit Post" - button will submit your reply, and it will look something like this:

How to edit your post/thread.
On the bottom of your own threads, you will find a button called "Edit Post".

Pressing that button will allow you to change the post, or delete it. You can also press the "Go Advanced" button to enter advanced options.
Do your edits:

Hit the "Save" button to finalize your edits.
