Alright... there's a guy on my server which want to buy 25k Drowned Rats he's paying 10g per rat, and this guy is ****ing rich, he've shown me 200k on 3 chars without going near the mailbox... so... what the hell is he up to?

Has a grey item ever been converted into a usable item following an expansion?
Even if the guy is so rich, why would he waste so much gold on something so random ans useless?
Maybe he knows someone on the inside?

I haven't the slightest idea. If anything, items become grey after an expansion/patch.

the thing is, the number "25k" just means alot. dont think he will ever get that actual number. is there even near enough space to store 25k?

He is trying to raise the item's price and affect the WoW economy/just make himself look good. Another possibility is a guild achievement.

I'm not sure about that, this guy never waste a coin in vain. He won't even give his guildmates a few gold for repairs or flasks. And he would never ever do it to showoff, he hate to show it if, he shown me as I bothered him for about 2 months, trying to find his secrets.
