Ganked on a PVE server? WTF!

Am on a PVE server. I have my PVP flag disabled. Was in Hellfire peninsula when a char came out of nowhere and killed me in about 2 seconds flat, started dancing on my corpse, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I don't group, duel, or otherwise interact with other chars whereby if I buffed someone it might have enabled my PVP flag. I'm strictly solo PVE.

I doublechecked as my corpse was lying there, and my PVP flag was still disabled.

What the hell happened?

Are there hacks/exploits that allow players to bypass the PVP/non-PVP restrictions?

That happened to me once outside of stormwind when there was a big raid going on.. wasn't pretty....

It could possibly be a glitch, a while back Snake Traps could flag you PvP. Happened to me while I was watching XROADS get decimated once.

In Hellfire Pen there are 3 PVP zones to capture for a repeatable quest, did you fly over or run near one maybe? If so then this would flag you PVP for 5 minutes.

On a PvE server it says "You must be flagged to help capture this objective"


The only think I could think of is if he went to the Nagrand arena, got flagged and vame back, but the OP stated that he wasn't flagged at all.

I never went to an arena. I did fly from Shattrath to Honor Hold. Would that have somehow secretly flagged me for PVP?

As mentioned above, there was no PVP icon/shield next to my portrait, and right-clicking on my portrait and selecting PVP showed a checkmark next to "Disabled."

Happened to me when I use to play on Retail. Just sitting outside a city, out of no where a rogue came and pretty much two hit me because of how low a level I was :/

I dont know any exploits hacks or anything like it that makes you kill people when they arent tagged for PvP, tho, this reminds me of South Park ._.

I dont know about outlands but in Northrend if your on a quest the Req pvp it switches u

this happend to me aswell i wasnt taged for pvp or nothing must be a simple bug it hasnt happend since thought only the 1 time

If you flew over Nagrand Arena, you will remain flagged for FFA PvP until you dismount. I found out this bug the hard way when i got ganked while questing.

If you didnt, then I dont have a clue.

Were you AOE'ing?

Old trick:
Flag yourself and find someone using AOE while questing.
Run into their AOE. When it hits you, they become flagged.

Did any BG recently? You will be flagged for up to 5 minutes after leaving BG.
