What happened to this website?

So yesterday in the scams section someone posted: warcraftcurrency.com - Cheap Domain Name Registration and Transfers, SSL certificates, whoisguard privacy protection and free domain parking

They offered $17 per 1k/g and everyone started to sell to them. Now I cant find the thread to see if they were legit... I checked the website and it says "MMOWNED?"...

Could anyone explain what happened? (I think this is the suitable forum)
