Can't connect to private servers?

Every once in a while I can connect to a realm on private servers bust most of the time i cant.. it will let me log in but once i pick my realm it will try to connect then go back to the realm selection screen. If i'm lucky it will let me go select my chars but usually not. It hasnt worked on any server in particular, although im trying to connect to wowscape

set realmlist logon.scapegaming.com

can someone suggest a good desktop recorder that will record the desktop and wow starting up? the one i have records the wow screen as blank.

Also i turned my firewall off to see if it made a difference
