WoW UI, too complex?

Hey all, I'm a newb to WoW and plan to purchase subscription tommorow I'd say, thing is I've looked through gameplay vids and all I see are just hundreds of icons across the bottom, loads of text lots of char. images and stuff at the top. Is it all as complicated as it looks or is it actually easy to learn, as atm for me it looks like it would be really hard to learn.

Also is there a tutorial type of thing when you start to play or does it just take you right in? Thanks!

The Default Blizzard UI is very simple. Most of the confusing things you see in videos are add-ons that people put on themselfs. When you first start the game, you will be given the option to display tooltips. This explain what is going on and how to do things.

thats people with a lot of mods, you can customize your UI to your liking, mine is simple yet effective... no SS atm as I'm at work... but go to curse-gaming.com and you can look at a lot of different UI packs.. or make your own..

Just wondering, those customisations, are they like to help you out or are they like something that just gives you an upper-hand to other players?

Both i guess , but they dont give you an advantage as in you're gona run faster or anything , they give you information on screen which you need when you get to a higher lvl .

those addons give you LOTS of advantage over others who don't use them, just because they give you more information and the ability to keep information...

and mods that tell you when to use certain things and certain times and so on


if blizzard disabled customizable UI today, I would quit the game that second

You learn it a little at a time. As you gain skills you add more to the bar and learn where the old ones were.

When you get experienced with the game, building a UI from scratch is second nature.
