Just because I don't have 5 rep doesn't mean I'm a leecher. I came here for the community and eventually to post information that might be useful, just because it hasn't come to that doesn't mean it won't and it doesn't make me a leecher. Next to that, the few things I have tried to do for the community have gone for the most part unnoticed.

Making rash generalizations about individuals you don't know based on a title given to every new user shows a lot about a person's character. Have fun with that.

Maybe YOU need to take a look at the rules yourself.

Let us turn over a new leaf. I offer these Five Rules of Respect.

1. A little kindness goes a long way.

* Always be polite when you post, even if you strongly disagree with something that is said.
* Answer questions if you can. If it is a common question, direct them to our FAQ. If it is a question best answered on another forum or in an existing thread, refer them there. Otherwise, answer it yourself. No need to be unfriendly.
* If you feel that you cannot answer kindly, don't reply at all. It is better to say nothing, than to spread ill-will on this forum.

2. Respect the intent of the thread.

* Questions and debates are common here, and those asking the questions are directed here by the larger forum community and the moderators, because they know they will recieve informed, respectful opinions. Feel free to offer your opinion, but do so in a way and tone that reflects well upon the community.

3. Be respectful of other people's work.

* When criticizing other people's work, be constructive.
* Offer helpful suggestions.
* Tell them what they have done right, as well as where they need to improve.
* Be polite about it. There is no need to flame people.

4. English is a wondrous language. We encourage you to use it.

* Make your posts clear and understandable. For longer posts, consider writing it out in MS Word first, and running a spell check.

5. Trolls.

* Trolling and Flaming is not allowed on the site. We ask that all members show respect for each other.
* If a post blatently breaks the rules simply report it, as opposed to calling the poster a name.
* Report troll threads using the "R" (Report) button.This method really does work. Be patient.
* Do not reply with "/reported." Report the thread and move on. Anything else simply encourages the troll.

These Five Rules of Respect are designed to make our forum the sort of place we all want it to be. It can be this way. It can a relaxing, fun place to participate, but only if we make it so. It is up to each of us to contribute to that congenial atmosphere. It is up to each of us to take that extra pause, and consider not just what we say, but how we choose to say it. Are we being respectful and polite, even in the face of those who wish to offend and anger us? Are we being examples to others here? Are we being the sort of posters that we would want to interact with? It's up to us...

And the reason that we even bother to tell you guys instead of reporting you, is because we feel that as a newbie, you should be able to have a first chance. Believe me, if i reported you, then many things can happen such as infractions, -rep, temp ban. We are doing this out of kindness, but in return for our kindness we get verbally assaulted.
You could be banned for flaming me, and all i did was defend myself and try and show you what you did wrong, but you are so blatant to my attempt to help you. This is the reason that leechers are dislike on these forums.

So before you praise your fellow leecher for what you think is a great remark, i suggest you think about it.

IMO you are a leecher if you do not have 10 rep. 10 rep really isn't that hard to come by. Im sorry if the contributors and elite users sound harsh on leechers but the thing is. Its hard for us to spend hours and hours contributing and see other people taking and not giving back. Think about it...giving giving giving giving...nothing in return. Pls don't go on about "but we give you rep". Half of you DON'T / CAN'T give rep or dont know how. The other half that do...thanks but most of us aren't really doing all this for rep. Sure its nice to have contrib or elite status. But we mainly contribute to the community. Even if you hit elite...you still contribute even tho you can't go no higher save for mod etc...but you still do.

Please try understand this. I've seen alot of threads with this kind of noob or leecher vs contrib or elite and no matter which way the argument goes I try to understand each persons point of view, maybe you guys need to do the same. Have more respect for the people who make mmowned what it is today. However with that, we at contributors and elites have the responsibility to give leechers and noobs a friendly welcome and a chance to succeed on the site. We try to respect future contributors but there is only so much we can take.
