Hi guys, I've been a lazy leecher for a while now, thought I would post some info about something I'm good at: climbing!
I assume everyone knows about the north/south/east/west climbing technique. I've found I can do this a lot more reliably with a compass addon, personally I use one called xolpass.
You basically point yourself N/S/E/W holding down the right mouse button (Using the mouse allows you to position more accurately than the keyboard) and then jump and move toward the wall you are going to climb. To move forward use either the forward key on your keyboard, or the left mouse button. Some people have better results one way than the other.
You can press forward *after* you jump to move straight up an object. If when you point N/S/E/W, the wall isnt perfectly perpendicular to you, i.e. it is at an angle, you can press jump and forward at the same time to move sideways as you jump. This can be useful to avoid certain areas on cliffs that cause you to fall down (These can sometimes be spotted by having different colors to the rest of the cliff).
I've also found in some cases, different techniques work better to climb different walls, I've especially noticed that pressing jump and forward together tends to improve how much you "stick" to the wall, but it is probably going to move you a bit sideways and not straight up, good for sometimes getting the first jump on a tricky climb.
You can also do the N/S/E/W jumps with a strafe jump, so lets say you are climbing a cliff, facing due north and you come to a point where you cant get up, but there is another cliff on your right.. you can jump sideways (so you would be jumping east by pressing jump and your right key) and you will stick to the other cliff, kinda like a jackie chan spring off one wall onto the other
Hope this helps someone![]()
