    Ashenvale - Hidden Story

    Hi there!

I was randomly scouting through Ashenvale and I stumbled upon something that took my interest!

First I stumble upon an island, high up in the mountains around the border of Stonetalon Mountains and Ashenvale, which was perculiar since there is no path leading to it or anything. On a closer look I see a small but not tiny corpse with a rifle next to it along with a shovel, barrel and a bucket and infront of this corpse is a stone table with what appears to be another bone lying on top of it.

Looking around the place, seeing nothing else in the water, I look around and I see the ground next to it having three gravemarks sticking out of the ground, leading me to the conclusion that the place was once manned by 4 people. 3 of them decayed and the last person dying at the island from before.

After doing some research I didn't come quite far so I decided to fly on, until not even a minute later my eyes befall on a hollow treestumb. Once again this is on a random place with no path leading to it and high up in the mountains.
Because of this perculiar setting I descend to it and I see a shining orb with two tiny corpses holding hands in front of it.

What I found most interesting is that they are holding hands here. Was it a suicide since it looks so peaceful, Or is it some love story like Romeo and Juliet?

What was their quest? Could these two hidden things be connected to eachother because they are so close to eachother? Who were these people and what is the context to the story? What does the orb do?

I have so many questions but I hope you all enjoy this story! It would be great to hear your guys's insight and thought on it.

I can't help with the lore/story though, but thanks for a nice read and something that made me curious to find out too!

Love these hidden stories/areas in the game. Reminds me slightly of the graveyard above the waterfall right outside Darkshire. No idea what these corpses mean but it's awesome. Thanks for your post

    Speculation time on this!
With the given context I can somewhat picture an accurate representation of the story.
The Orb is obviously something of importance but I can't figure out why. What if it's along the lines of the four men from the island trying to retrieve the orb at any cost necesarry and the two corpses infront of the orb managed to hide it away safely? In the end everyone died. That's a fact. If you look at the contrast of the picture (for example the people at the island having brought a shovel and gun) in comparison to two peaceful corpses holding hands I can see who are the good guys and who are not.

Perhaps the reason the tiny corpses are holding hands is knowing they secured the orb's safety. Their quest was complete but at the cost of their lives. Thoughts?

You know what would be really cool? A Google Maps style Azeroth maps, with markers w/ coords for all the things.

    But on topic:

Cool find! I love stuff like this out in the world. Certainly makes it feel more "alive" and gives it character.

Not exactly but close. He has "Enable Technical Details" working on some maps which shows you coords, adt tile and the name of the zone.
