Many of us have been in those mountains, but head in the opposite direction trying to get into Tanaan jungle. Never checked out the other side!

Went and checked this out, very cool
As you said in the guide, moving makes him despawn, for what it's worth, it's the moving into Talador that makes him despawn. He reappears when moving into Tanaan again.

Just talked to the guy (used flyhaxx to get up), was greeted with the words "Yes, <my name>?"
