Thanks to everyone for the kind words! I am glad I could finally make this exploration a reality. For a lot of explorers, reaching GM Island is a right of passage.

To address a few comments/questions in this thread...

* Yes, this particular method is a Mage-only exploration... as you need Blink.
* I used the Flying Broom which has no cast time. It drops from the Loot Filled Pumpkin during the Headless Horseman fight.
* I've seen several posts and comments on my YouTube that this is already hotfixed... so I'll try again tonight and confirm/deny.
* The exploration was done on-line and completely live.
I have reached GM Island using SecondWorld and Model Edits in the past, but this is the first time I've really gone there.
I actually got "Discovered GM Island" in my chat!
* Flying time for me was about 4 minutes to the northern edge of the map, and then about another 7 minutes west to the Island.
I flew in an "L" shape though for ease of explanation...that time could be cut down flying direct (northwest).

...and @Kasapin ... the video you linked above shows the VoTuUS's method, which works by bugging out a Horde-only quest in order to achieve mid-air floating. Not the same at all.

I counted the days til halloween to finally get again to the gm island.
Sadly the broom will disappear after 14 days.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, this seems to be hotfixed.
People were reporting in the video comments that they could no longer mount after the second wall... so I just went and tried it myself... and I got the same thing. "You cannot mount here".

Ah well... fun while it lasted... back to the drawing board!

Very true... I love showing people 'how to'... this is why I make videos and they all explain 'how'.... but this is a double-edged sword, because it shoves it in Blizzard's face, and things do get hotfixed.

I'm sure the 6 dislikes on my video are exactly that... people that don't like me exposing the secrets.

This still works. Pretty much followed the above video as a guide, took a while, but that's because I do not have epic flying.

Not on my realm it doesn't. Not working on Lightninghoof, US as of 10-21-11.

I just did more testing based on your post... trying from different angles, etc. The constant seems to be the "Unknown" zone... apparently the brooms no longer work in them. As soon as I "leave General: Teldrassil" and enter the Unknown zone, I cannot use the Flying Broom. I seem to get this around the 3rd invisible wall flying West, or the 6th invisible wall flying North of Teldrassil on my realm.

I then went behind Zul'Aman for further testing (another outside, Unknown zone I can fly in) and also could no longer use the Flying Broom there, either.

Hmm, when I tried it and got there, I didn't notice any unknown zones, it was either the zone for the sea which had a name (can't recall what), teldrassill, or GM Island. I'll give this another go later on this evening or tomorrow morning, and fraps it so you can see my route (and so I can see zone changes when I review footage). Maybe any hotfix that's gone out hasn't hit EU yet? Wouldn't surprise me where blizzard are concerned :-D This seems the most likely thing to me when I think about it.

Very nice find indeed. I've just tried this now on my mage and for some reason I can't blink through the second wall, the one that looks translucently-blue and I've died of Fatigue. Could they have fixed this aswell or is there some kind of trick to get pass through it? Thanks.
