Uhh, I believe that's a technical term. A parent forum would be the one hosting the subcategory.

Child refers to a subsection. Like parent and child. Parent meaning the thing above it. Basically in a forum you make parent forums and subforums which are the childs of the parent forum.
Obvious... Sorry, that's why they both have child in the title. Means to select which child(sub) board.
