WoW References to the Belgariad

Lately Ive been reading a fantasy series called The Belgariad by David Eddings. As I was reading the book, I realized there were a lot of things in the book that were in wow. I can only bring two things to come to mind but I'm sure there are others.
The two were:

In one of the books there was a monster the group fought. It was some large monster, larger than a human, can't remember what they called it but its name was "Grul". Sounds and is described an awful lot like Gruul.

Also not so sure about this one, But in the book there is a character Named "Brill". Thought Brill in Tirisfal Glades might be A reference somehow.

Its seems to me Blizzard have taken a lot of things/ideas/characters from other fantasys =P
