That's where Dalaran used to be. Don't you guys remember that Pink Bubble everyone tried to get into?
They simply teleported Dalaran to the Place it is now

Maybe I'm just interpreting too much but I think he meant that there's actually still a text reading "Dalaran" on the map, implying that Dalaran is still in that place. But I'm just a leecher so nobody cares anyway....

If you go to "dalaran" in Alterac Mountains, you will only find a crater with some pipes and left-over's from dalaran's sewer system.. so they changed the purple bubble to a hole.
