I don't have a cloud serpent. Does this mean I can't do this challenge? Or can I get there without it?
Any flying mount will do
Am i the only one that thinks the normal challenges has started being way 2hard with the 0 details pictures?
Yes Ziozi, you are the only one.
You said the same above, which Hurricaanz then promptly solved... because he recognized the details that you could not.
The current challenge is also well detailed. You will know the spot if you've been there. This is why we call the thread the Master of Exploration.
Just because you don't recognize the details do not mean there are "zero details". I don't mean to come off hard on you, Ziozi, but you tend to have this mentality of "if I can't personally do it then it must be patched", and now, "if I don't personally recognize it then it must not have enough detail".
^This! (filler)
the only thing i ment was just that usually these challenges had abit more details in them where you could actually see where it was but u had to figure out from which instance the instanced zone was and where it then inside the zone was located. now it's like guess this colour texture. im not saying it is a hard challenge if you've been there before, then it's probably really easy, but the challenges usually showed atleast where around it would be, with pandarian landscape or something like that.
To be honest, I agree with Ziozi on this. Not just to back a buddy up, but really, pictures did get a lot harder lately. Last few times most of the pictures gave almost no clue as to where they could possibly be. You would only know if you'd been there before. I liked the challenges way more when they gave a small clue regarding general area, such as a piece of ground texture. That way you would be able to go: ''Ah yes, that texture... I've seen it before. That's used in zone X and dungeon Y. Now I just need to go explore those places and find the spot!''
This last picture, just as an example, not trying to bash anyone, basically doesn't give any hints as to where it could possibly be, except there's 2 floating boxes. If you haven't been there before you will not know where it is or could be. At all. There is no clue as to where it -might- be. And it's kind of pointless to go explore every instance that has a no-man's land zone in which you can mount up. Because there's a lot of them.
Explorations are much more powerful when everyone knows where it is, yet noone knows how to get there. Take Kamuul's Tol'Vir challenge. Everyone knew it was in the Lost City, yet noone knew how to get up on the Vortex Pinnacle. Everyone loved the challenge because of it.
Feel free to disagree and say that looking in every corner of the world is what this topic is about. If it was then I probably wouldn't've posted here in the first place. Making a list of all instances you haven't explored 100% yet and going there and crossing it off of the list would, to me, be extremely boring and most of all not fun. I rather explore a place when it pops into my mind in a fashion of ''oh, I learned this new trick here, but I could apply that in the other instance as well.''

As stated on dictionary.reference.com:
"ex·plo·ra·tion
noun
1. an act or instance of exploring or investigating; examination.
2. the investigation of unknown regions."
Exploration is essentially finding unknown regions, seeing great new areas, and go where noone has gone before. What you gain in the end in the knowledge of geography, knowing where everything is, how to get there, and how it looks.
It is the same for WoW exploration. We go where other's do not go. We see what other's cannot see. We find what others have not found.
Until you have searched every single corner of the game, and noticed every little detail, you can not be called a true master of exploration. In my honest opinion, noone on this forum is worthy of that title at the moment.
This thread is about sending people out on an epic journey, to find all the hidden areas of the game, and most importantly to recognise them, even if your only hint is a grey doodle on a plain black background.
You should not be unsatisfied with whatever hints the challenger has given you, but rather be thankful that he's given you any.
This is not the one and only truth about MoE, rather than that, it is my opinion, and I know I'm not the only one who thinks so about MoE. This is also not just a message to you, Ziozi, but rather a message to the whole community. I believe that everyone has the potential to become an amazing explorer, but it is not something you can become, just because you've been a couple of places, and know a couple of secrets. It takes experience, patience, and knowledge to become a true Master of Exploration.
That is all I have to say about this. On a side note, I expect to be taking a break from exploration and WoW in general for some time now, so I will not be very active on these forums, but I will still be available if you PM me

My only point was exactly this. The recent challenges DO have small clues regarding the general area, such as a piece of texture that makes you go "ah yes, that texture... I've seen it before". Exactly what you are saying that you want is clearly present. No need to "look in every corner of the world"... the clues to the general location of the challenge are right there in front of you.
I have never been to the current challenge... but I can tell the general location just from the colors and textures. Same with the challenge two before it... never been there specifically, but could clearly tell the general location by the texture / context clues.
Our ideas on context clues would appear to vary.![]()
Seasoned vets of this forum correct me if I'm wrong here, but my understanding of the premise of this sticky is that all challenges are valid so long as they don't require something unique to a specific class or profession. More or less if the challenge can be completed by anyone, then it is therefore valid regardless of how many clues are in the pic. Just because it's not the "hard-mode" challenge doesn't mean it's an "easy-mode" challenge. After all it is called the Master of Exploration thread for a reason.
Furthermore I know I've seen people post additional clues when a specific challenge gummed up the thread for awhile so it's really no big deal either way right? I hope to be able to compete myself someday, but as it stands I very rarely know where any of these pics are lol.
