Mines 2 and a half years old, and beats your spec hands down in every area. And i considered mine a bargain buy.

    My spec:

    Amd athlon 3800+
    Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT 256mb
    1gb ram.

    Bout all that matters

But yea itl still run wow pretty awesome. But nothing compared to my grand sony laptop that runs 4 gliding wow's at full gfx no problem.
What the hell you are saying? My Radeon 9800 Pro from around 4 years ago is almost similar in performance than your 6600GT.

(Currently using 7600GS with AMD Athlon 2100+ and 1gb ram. Works well!)

If your FPS is low with minimum settings, go out and buy new computer.

Caues everyone has the money to buy a new comp when their FPS gets low

I currently use an M2010 from dell, and with WoW cap on, it caps me at 60FPS.

However, when I turn it off, I run 90-115's FPS (Really no need to run that high, since 60 is plenty enough, and 115 is just causing my vid card to work more than it needs to.)

I found that the WMP trick works, but mainly just on loading screens. Deals with it loading commonly used sound drivers/files already needed by wow.

    BTW, SS for the FPS:

Full high Settings. Also a good thing sometimes is to turn Vsync off. It can sometimes give a + FPS boost, or a - fps drop, but it's always worth a shot

"ATI Radeon x900" Are you sure about the graphics card? I can't find any product specs anywhere for current or discontinued products from ATI. At any rate, your graphics card sounds like you weakest component, I would recommend the new 8800 GT's great bang for your buck. Until then if you want to post your video settings we can try and tweak it some.

I have the Nvidia 8800GT 512 mb, and it has really boosted my fps from about 30-50 fps out questing to around 100+ fps constantly (both compared to eachother in windowed mode).
The only weakspot is in cities like Shattrath, where I sometimes even go down to 10 fps, which is not what I thought the 8800GT would do.

This low fps in cities could have something to do with my RAM aswell, since I only run at 1GB at the moment, since one of my RAM's broke some time ago.

Anyway, the looking down thing does work, but it's really common sense and doesn't need an own thread for it IMO.

This is actually a tip I am using myself..Its common sense really , as you said in your post.

Given to the fact that I have 15 fps max ( yeah , my pc is crappy -.- ) I am always looking down :/.

    Good post :-)

The reason why you have fps problem with looking forwards,
could be that you need to update your graphic card driver,
or maybe your graphic card is completely shit and cannot take the polygons in far-watch,
therefore I would advice you to buy and new Graphic card if this problem bugs you.

WOW doesn't require expensive hardware. I got a AMD 64 X2 4000 with 1G ram, and a 2 year old graphics card did pretty well.

PS the dual core does help for some reason. A friend's computer with the same settings but single core (and his graphic card is better, a 7600gt I think) still feels sloppy.

The WMP trick is confirmed by me (win xp, C2D E6300) went from 25-35 fps in org to 35-45, and in the ah from 55-60 to 65-75
