It's a different thing. One was making a "hard" achiev way easier, this is allowing you to keep something that was never possible to get.

Back in vanilla you can farm this rep up to revered I think or 11999/12000 honored but was never possible to get exalted.

Also the problem is that allowing you to keep this (if this is indeed a bug) will make some old players to be piss off cause we can't get exalted atm since we already did this quest several years ago xD

I think it's possible they allow us to keep it but they will have to find a way to allow all players to get it somehow...

Looks like we will be able to keep our rep. I'm looking with my main to see what creatures are giving rep atm but this hotfix pretty much confirm we won't lose our rep and people who wasn't able to do the quest can grind it somehow

Edit: Looks like people who wasn't able to get the rep with the method posted by the OP can't get it after this fix cause a phasing issue. Let's hope for a server restart or something.

Defeating Shok?Thokar creatures in Desolace now grants both Gelkis and Magram reputation.

From the latest hotfix patch notes. That pretty much confirms the rep is here to stay, and people who couldn't get the rep can now get the rep.

I just talked to GM about this. I finished most of the quests a while ago before it gave reputation and now i cant get any. The GM told me its a known issue and it should be resolved soon-ish.

Update: Now if you completed this quest in the past and you are not exalted, you just have to talk to Karnum Marshweaver in the middle of the Oasis in Desolace. You will instantly hit exalted with both reputations.

This has been confirmed intended on blizzards hotfixes :
Fixed a bug with the reputation bonus on completion of "Death to Agogridon". If you previously completed the quest, speak to Karnum Marshweaver in Desolace to receive your reward.

how i understood it, thoose who completed it back where it didnt give 40k, can now speak with the npc and get their reward, aka 40k rep. I dont know tho
