Kill people with almost no chance of dying (casters/ranged)

Ok, well this was a little trick/exploit that I found out the last night while wondering around the outlands. I found it out by myself and I dont think that it has ever been posted so here it goes...

I was on my level 57 orc warlock in the outlands wondering around hellfire peninsula when I decided that it would be a good idea to go through the Dark Portal so I went through with no problems...

I popped out at the Stairs of Destiny so I spent a little while wondering around there, realized there is nothing for me to do there and left... almost...

when I was trying to go through the portal, it says "you must be level 58 to use the portal" or something along those lines... so I was all "WTF? my hearth stone is still on cooldown!!!"

so I just kept running forward until I hit the "Invisible wall" about five yards through the green barrier and sat down while I waited for the cooldown to be up on my hearth stone.

Then I saw a level 61 human warrior go through the portal and i was all "OMG!?!?!? Can I kill him?" and then I was like "Oh yeah, im a warlock, of course I can!" so i used immolate, then corruption, had my felguard charge and stunned him, and shadowbolted him twice, then he charged me and got ported out!

The point is, if you can (as a level 57 or lower standing in this spot) unload enough dps before any non-ranged class knows whats going on, they can do nothing (that I know of) to stop you

i dont think that its "practically worthless" people like pvp tricks. but you are right its probably not "teh sexiest ever" thanks for the input though.

this is doable in other places with portals, like instances and stuff execpt thats for all lvls just go in then go out reset go in go out reset blah blah until u try enter the instance and you get thrown out cuase of the instances per hour thing. the thing is after it throws u out u can just walk straight throu the portal and no1 can hit u since they get ported into the instance when they try to attack u =)

yes, it is.

I think this would only work against Melee classes like Warrior/Rouge etc, a ranged class could rpobably take you out.

He ment outside the portal, as in the Azeroth side, which is not pvp free, believe me, it was pain getting through at the TBC release cause of nubs who didn't have tbc yet tried to stop you ;<

This is used quite a lot in battlegrounds. The horde would sit in the alliance portal so none of the melee classes could get to them. Just have to watch out for the ranged lot

You mean it was used, now there's elite guards guarding portals. I'm not even sure if BG's have portals anymore, WSG doesnt atleast.

Lol this reminds me about a time when i were level 58/59. In hellfire peninsula i were questing, when a tauren in cat-form (lion thingy) attacked me (melee ofc). I was at the place where the plane with 2 goblins fell down. So at the questgiver theres this parasol. I ressed on it and boom-smat killed the tauren. (He knew i were there and it took some time before he was dead but he couldnt reach me (lol))

I do this in kara all the time, horde are always swarmed at the entrance killing any allies they see, so I sit inside the portal while I wait for my raid and shoot them and put down traps and run back, if they try to follow they get pulled into the raid usually
