Where do you get 2-3k from? Assuming it takes 2 seconds to get the item and sell it that's 13k an hour, does it really take 4 times longer than that? I remember in MoP I used a macro for something similar relating to items and it took around 200ms, which would put this in the range of 100k+ an hour. I haven't played WoW in a long time so I don't know how fast selling an item is. I also have no idea how much gold per hour is considered a lot now days.

They give items to you quite slowly hence the small amount of gold you get. You can take it higher but you can also get more gold doing something less risky, still gold is gold
