I did this for the longest time but now that I mostly only raid and never farm I dont have point in fel concentration and using the highest rank really makes shard farming easier since it uses 200% spell dmg.

Lol? This is common sense, I mean mages can use Rank 1 polymorph for PvP, rank 1 frostbolt for a fast and low mana slow. Warlocks can even use rank 1 dots on people in Arena to keep them in combat or to keep a stealther out of stealth.

lol this was even on thottbot, i never used any other rank since i had my first rank of drain soul when lvling.
altrough there is an exeption when raiding/instancing. you only get the +mana when your the one delivering th final blow so higher rank gives more damage and increases the chance you deliver final blow
