I wonder, potentially you could loot the mount, or other lucrative items without opening the box, return the box and rinse and repeat wait for the event to go away and make a killing on some of those items like Medal of the legion for instance which sells for 4-9k on my server

The op doesn't discovered this exploit. This was posted on wowhead before, so he just leeched it with 1000 others here, who writes "delete it, before they fixed it".
