interesting use of Necromantic Focus as healer

So I have been using this DPS trinket on atleast one of my healing toons for a while now. It probably isn't going to make or break your raid but I find it fascinating that it works so well for a healer. Like the trinket says, you receive 383 intellect and 39 mastery stacking up to 10 times for each DOT you cast. While using this on my resto druid, I found that applying only one Insect Swarm on a target causes this trinket to give ten stacks of mastery if other people are casting DOTs on that target. So essentially this trinket is worth 383 intellect and 390 mastery which is great for a resto druid and only at the cost of one insect swarm. The buff doesn't fall off either as long as people continue to DOT your target.

Again, I just thought this was an interesting use of the trinket and thought I would share it. I've been using this since firelands was current and although it is a bit outdated it still may be useful for some people.

i wouldn't say it is much of an exploit. I do a similar thing on my druid with the darkmoon card: volcano. since the proc on dps is 1600 intellect, and the restoration spec has dots restoring 2% of your total mana every 12 seconds or so. it common sense knowing even while healing, you can pop an instant cast dps spell once in a while.

How often does Volcano proc for you when you cast a DOT 10-20 times in a boss fight? Maybe once? Necromantic Focus requires one cast and then you get 10 stacks of it from other people DOTs. If Will of Unbinding worked this way, and it doesnt, I would probably use that all the time as a healer. So ya, its not working as intended but it won't make you break any healing records. I just thought it was interesting and thought I would share.

Thank you. BTW I healed DW normal with will of unbinding and it was interesting trying to keep the stacks up to ten while still casting heals but man when I had ten stacks and popped innervate it gave me a ton of mana.
