    Secondworld/XYZ De-sync using Guild Chest

I've recently come across an odd sort of de-sync/offline mode exploit that de-syncs the XYZ co-ords of your character on the client and the character server side. You can run around without dying like offline mode, but you are still able to cast most things. Other people cannot see you move, and nearby NPCs will only spawn up to a certain distance - if you run outside of this range, you can still see other players. No, nothing interesting happens to the items so I don't believe there is anything here that can cause duping etc., and it also seems relatively low-risk. Thanks to RAoV for helping me figure out some stuff!

    This exploit requires:
    - A level 12 guild with the Guild Chest perk
    - Friendly reputation with the guild you are in
    - A dungeon portal
    - The following macro - this is the same macro that is used for a lot of other exploits such as the recent Guild Bank de-sync:
    /script for s=1,80 do _G[format("GuildBankColumn%dButton%d", ceil(s / 14), s % 14 + 1)]:Click("LeftButton") _G[format("GuildBankColumn%dButton%d", random(1,7), random(1,14))]:Click("LeftButton") end

What you have to do is relatively easy:
    1. Set the Guild Chest close to the entrance of the dungeon portal, so that when you run into the portal you don't got out of range of the chest.
    2. Open the bank (tab does not matter, it must have some items in however).
    3. Press the macro about twice per second while running towards the portal; this should lag you considerably. Stop running when you reach the point at which you would normally be ported in.
    4. Spam the macro about 3 or 4 times per second until you get ported into the instance - this should take roughly 20 to 30 seconds, possibly sooner. If you disconnect while doing this then you were probably spamming it a bit too much. Be careful, if you aren't in range of the portal and you disconnect then you'll get the "A character with this name already exists" error when logging back in, but this is usually fixed by logging on another character on the same server.
    5. When you get ported in, if it worked properly - It works about 80% of the time for me - then you should experience the same effects as in the video below. Test this by running away from the entrance and using something like a Darkmoon Tiger - it should spawn just in front of the entrance, not where you are on the screen. Also, if your non-combat pet isn't following you, it worked. All mobs and NPCs should also give an "out of range" error.

This should last for as long as you are in the instance. You'll have to logout or use something that forces you to move (such as jumping on a Darkmoon Tiger or using Elixir of Dream Vision - they will disconnect you) to get out of this state, as the instance portal to exit will not work. If it didn't work, take a look at the video to see a working attempt, then just try it again or PM me. There's still probably a lot of stuff to discover while in this state but what I can think of it being used for primarily is exploring. Good luck playing around with it!

Video below shows a successful attempt and the effects:

Used to play around with this before, though I got in to this mode by unplugging my network cable when jumping inside an instance then re-plug it right before disconnect.

The title clearly says this is an XYZ de-sync, but if you want to try some stuff out for yourself then feel free to do so, e.g. kite a mob to your server-side self with another account and see what happens.

I still have no idea on why this happens when you lag that way, and I don't know everything that happens when you do this de-sync. I'd appreciate it if anyone was to play around with it and maybe find out some new possibilities as to what else can be done with it.

I had something like this happen to me when i was joining AV.. my character could move around on the map but everything was out of range until the BG ended then something pretty cool happened.... My character started running back to the spawn point of AV through walls and the ground. What makes me post this is that my guildies said my character was in the BG group but didnt appear on the map anywhere. Possibly an easy way to explore bgs without getting reported or kicked

Interesting, I was about to release this exact exploit...
Have you tried reversing it, starting from inside the instance?

Ouch, unlucky, I guess. (Although I did post this a few days back, but I removed it because it wasn't really 'ready').

Just tried reversing it (have tried many times before) and I ended up DCing, though I think this was my own fault. It also probably affected whether or not it worked. I'll try again later but i'll make sure I don't lag so much I DC. As expected, for disconnecting while doing this, I got the "A character with this name already exists" error when logging into the character who did the exploit. Now logging another character usually fixes this, but not this time... instead, I remained online while on both characters, fully able to whisper and invite etc., and people who had me on their friends list/RealID were able to see bot online at the same time. If this happens again then i'll try to find something interesting.

Edit again: after trying to reverse it with what should have been a successful attempt (no DC, happened relatively fast), it still didn't work. I don't think it is possible to reverse this, unfortunately, but hopefully someone can manage it.

After playing with some more i've found some interesting stuff:
    - Getting summoned further into the instance, after you accept, will not summon you server side, but it will summon you client side - however it will still summon your non-combat pet server side.
    - Jumping into someone's mount while being in range client side but not server side can cause your server side character to no-clip through walls etc. Need this to be confirmed by someone else, as you DC when you jump into someone's mount in this state; I could not see the results myself, but I was told this happened by my friend.
    - Other people cannot jump into your two seater mount if you are in this state.
    - Falling out the map (as with all other secondworld exploits) will not kill you.
    - Trying to trade with someone while in this state opens a trade window for both players, but it is cancelled a fraction of a second after, unless you are standing close to the entrance client side.
    - Killing yourself with the unstuck button, oddly, does not DC you, nor has any other effects that I have found. This is a way out of the secondworld without having to DC.
    - Possibly the weirdest thing that i've found so far; jumping into someone else's mount while they are standing near you at the entrance causes you to DC but still stay logged into the game, but you will be in the logout state. While in this state you can log on your other characters and see yourself online... however, much stranger things will happen to the person controlling the mount. They:
    - Will still see you as a passenger on the right hand side of the screen, even if they dismount or your logout timer rolls over. The only way to get rid of this is by ejecting the passenger.
    - two out of three times, whatever the mount owner consumed directly after doing this was consumed three times over.

This is just a dump of information I've found out about the bug. I haven't tried attacking or having more than one person do it... but hopefully someone is able to find something interesting or useful out of this. Have fun!

Perhaps an engineer can mess around and see what they can do? What about summoning a bank or mailbox?

I've tried both, using an engineer and the argent gruntling pet (it has these abilities). I haven't seen anything weird happen yet, they just have the normal "out of range" message, and remain at the instance entrance if you use them while bugged.
