Yesterday when I tried i tried with level 80 leather shoulders from forge of souls, transmogged into a 60 epic, didnt work.
this morning after checking this post I tried it with a lower level sword transmogged into an even lower level green sword. didnt work.

Everyone Ive used to try this with has been 85 and i havnt used any class only gear to try it with and both classes have been able to use the transmog items.

    @deuro
I went into RFC with my 60dk friend and got the 1h sword to dropp. I then went out and transmogged it into Teebu's Blazing Longsword, then went inside to the dungeon again (same save). I then dragged it from my equipped gear by left clicking and dragging into trade window. When he hold his mouse above it, it says 0/0 dura and also theres no sign of transmog currently on it. When it's being traded he can clearly see that theres no transmog. Also no transmog look when he equips it.
Did I do anything wrong? Don't think I did, but if I did, please enlighten me and the others here

I think you need to explain further, as all /most people fail with the exploit.
    Thx in advance.

Not on wow ATM. I'm assuming it's the same as mogging heirlooms.
    Donor(D)=person performing mog
    Acceptor(A)=person accepting item

    1. Item you want drops in instance.
    2. Donor equips item and transmogs it(do not unequip item)
    3. Donor opens trade through right-clicking acceptor.
    4. Donor left-clicks item to put it in trade window(item is still equipped by donor
    5. Both players accept trade.
Item should retain mog. If not relog.

    Read rules for transmog.
If item has lvl req donor AND acceptor must be able to equip item you are stealing mog from
Acceptor and donor must be able to use both items: plate users must be 40 and have learned plate

Review the rules if it's still not working. Sorry for hijacking

    THIS WORKS!

I was as skeptical as you all, but it turns out you need a cross-server friend to make this work! I ran Deadmines with a friend on another server, and managed to make a Cruel Barb into a 1H Quel'Delar! She was 85.

    - I did not unequip the item, just mogged it, got summoned back (they did not leave the instance), traded from the equipped slot and bam! I do not know if this had any affect.

    - If this will NOT work if you DF with someone on the same server, and mog a drop from a DF group. It HAS to be someone off-server.

    - THIS WILL NOT WORK IF THE PERSON IS UNDER THE MOG LEVEL, I could not do the same with Quel'Delar with a 37 rogue. Would have looked neat, though.

I'd recommend going to Wrymrest Accord or Moon Guard, the two big RP servers, and selling rare looks like the Corrupted Ashbringer or Quel'Delar.

Quel'danar has a lvl req. you were able to bypass this? Which quel was it?

Edit: we're you on an 80+ in heroic?

It was Quel'Delar, Cunning of the Shadows. It seems I was able to bypass the level req as in, it would keep the mog even though it wasn't a quest item -- but it did strip itself when I tried to replicate it with an 37 rogue. Both times, I used a 1H sword drop from Deadmines, regular.

However, with the rogue drop, I grabbed two 1H swords and mogged them, unequipped one, and left the other equipped as I flew back (pally, can't duel-wield). This may have a stripping effect as I tried to trade the two at the same time, I don't know.

Ok this works very nicely, and I got it to work both cross realm and same realm. Earlier I tried it with someone on the same realm, but that failed at first until we realized the next day the transmog reappeared, whereas on cross realm it worked straight away.

Basically you need to relog after receiving the items from the trade.

And for proof, here's a warlock with tier 3 priest:

    Attachment 7199

This ends up working because tier 3 has no class restrictions (probably due to the fact it was a quest reward and not a drop), and the person that wants the transmog has to be able to equip the source of the transmog.

    Here is the process:
    1) Repeatedly doing lowbie instances with me needing the cloth gear to obtain all the different slots, including a staff
    2) I'd equip the lowbie gear (blue/epic BoPs)
    3) Transmogrify it to t3
    4) Open trade with friend who was there when I looted the items. I never unequipped the items. I simply opened trade by right clicking their unit frame, then dragging it straight from my character slow into the trade window.
    5) He accepts items
    6) He relogs
    7) Win

Worked 100% of the time, as long as he is able to equip the transmog source (in this case it was Faith T3). Sadly this means that a Benediction/Anathema transmog cannot be traded to non-priests.

I've been trying this with some plate gloves from Mana Tombs -- mogged into a non-class-restricted pair from Naxx 25, sending it to an 85 pally. It's not working. I traded it to him as you say, he logs in and out... but in the instance, out of the instance, equipping the gloves, leaving them in his bag, the mog is not sticking. What am I doing wrong?

so basically if you want to wear the xmog you have to wear the shitty old gear like bc gear or w/e it is you cant wear current content gear say pvp gear with tier 3 look unless u buy the actual item off the black auction house. What im trying to find out is if its possible to transmog to the item and if it actually transforms the item somehow so that the item that was traded then is essentially tier3 and it then can be used to xmog further items an example.

So you go into stocks get some legs xmog some low level legs to the item that dropped. Then take those legs and trade it to your friend I get that part. But then is it possible to take the item that was traded and use it as a source to xmog further say max lvl gear into the same xmog? otherwise this bug seems rather useless as you would need to change into shitty gear that you got through in the case of tier 3 low i level gear. Am i correct in saying this? or is there a way to use it to xmog further gear?
