Everbody know that you can switch weapon during fight, but before there was no potential need for caster to do that. Moreover i'm not sure that is intended that a weapon you switch back have an effet which remain after removing it. If you think about it you can see that is illogical, but it's probably right too that this is the game mechanic as well.

I'll stop bump that post if nobody else than me can see any ingame advantage to do it.

If it would give a benefit then it would be an exploit (although imo ppl argue too much about what's called an exploit and what not, I just care what's useful).

But the main problem with weapon swapping is that you usually lose more from GCD's than gain from the extra procs. Also some items cannot proc in 30sec after they've been equipped (not sure if that applies to this staff). Things like power torrent and hurricane enchants are procs too so it's not a new idea for casters. But the gain would need to be quite big to justify lost gcd's but to find out usability needs proper math and testing.

As a Warlock it could be benefic to change only one time at the begining of an encounter beaucause it's the moment where you put your dots and the most important it's also the moment when you summon your Doom Guard wich absorb every stats at the moment T of the cast. That means if you summon him with the proc haste he'll be able to cast probably more shadowbolt which result of more DPS.
