I agree I can't get this to work either, when I go to kite him he just resets after I pull him too far away..I don't even get him close to elwynn before he resets.

You need to taunt every time its off cd or cast an ability that doesn't hurt him but generates threat such as farie fire. Just running will reset him like any other mob.
hmmm cant do this as a hunter sadly :/

Still work with update ?
Tamed the bub in Elwynn and he stayed, but went above the treeline and flew on my 310% for a little bit then went back down and now pet... :/
Edit:
Yeah I think this was fixed... they disappear after a certain period of time now...

It is not permanant, the last time I did it before i xfered horde I think it lasted about 10 minutes. More than enough time to fly to SW and have some fun. Once it dissapears you can go get another one. Also, if you fly above the treeline at 310% chances are he may have fallen behind, or got caught on some terrain. Fly below the treeline and stop every once in a while to make sure he is still behind you.
Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it.
this still works after the patch
Its fixed... right when u pass that first little bridge in elwyn forest... it despawn... Correct me if i am wrong... i tried 3 times and same thing :S on the same spot it despawns ... i even tried with ground mount in case i made it despawn... same thing.
