There is a quests where you get a follower NPC it is kinda useless unless you can expand it.

Quest:Lunk's Adventure: Spider Rider - Wowpedia - Your guide to the World of Warcraft

All you need to do is pick up the quest get him to follow you and WALK to where you want to go.

Working as intended...is it really an exploit? Is it a combat NPC with insane / infinte health or something?

Is it just because he'll follow you wherever and anywhere so long as you walk?
