You clearly can pull with racer controller. As shown in the video. Although I have no idea what the aggro range is, I was jumping inside the boss to aggro it.

Didn't work for me, he ported me down when he ran down himself. However, Feigning death caused his pet to despawn.

This didn't work for me. I just ended up killing him the normal way.
