Quty, that was an awesome post =)
I noticed that the person making this Vashj tutorial video probably used the method explained on that add-on page you linked to.

Hi guys.. I found a way to get the camera back to it's original far distance even after you've zoomed in.
In the Key Bindings tab (in game)
You'll notice you can actually store camera settings to a key.
So..
Store the far view camera to a hotkey.. then zoom in and play normally .. and whenever you want to look far away or scout.. just press the hotkey and the camera will be very zoomed out again.
Hope this is handy for you all.
Confirmed and working. Excellent, now I've set up two keys for 150 and 300 yards. So nice for when making movies, can get really great camera angles for boss fights which are normally impossible.Originally Posted by beethy

The tutorial shows some incredible console commands you can use to actually set the camera AWAY from your character (without him/her on the screen) and also swivel the camera around. Simply amazing find by this guy.

wow camera bobbing very nice, very nice!
Another nice find. =)
About beethy's method to set up different cameras, does anyone know how to save those when you log off? They seem to have reset every time I log on again. Which means I have to manually edit the camerasettings file again.
I had this in my first post, although it was kinda hard to find.Originally Posted by nordh
WoW has 4 camera presets which you can set/load and save using key bindings within the game. These settings are stored in Config.wtf - the first file in your WTF folder...
Make sure WoW is fully shut down then edit the Config.wtf file with your favourite text editor (I used PFE - http://www.lancs.ac.uk/staff/steveb/cpaap/pfe/ - as it supports Unix text format and extracts as a standalone .exe). Add the following line to the end:
SET cameraDistanceD "250"
This sets the 5th (D) camera preset to a massive distance of 250 units. You can also add/edit the pitch and yaw with, for example, SET cameraPitchD "15" and SET cameraYawD "0".
Change the last letter to A for preset #2, B for #3, C for #4, D for #5. (Preset #1 doesn't have a save key binding for some reason but the setting is probably stored in SET cameraDistance - without the letter. I don't think there is a yaw/pitch variable though.)
Save the file and fire up WoW. You can now cycle between your new camera presets with the (default) Home and End keys, or you can bind your own keys for each preset if you wish.

Those aren't my words above, just sharing what I found.
Hi, I am the person who made that movie, I did indeed use this method, well, kind of, I didn't know anyone else knew how to do this, this is the first time I have seen it 'out there' but about 1.5 years ago I made a macro for manipulating my camera in many ways, more than just explained here now, anyone who has watched my movies over the past years often makes comment how do you do those camera shots, but I kept it secret as I was sure once it was 'out there' they would patch it. I hope they don't patch it now that someone has made it public :-(Originally Posted by nordh
But yes to echo what was said, it's really nice for making movies, but it has many other uses as well ;-P in PvP and PvE and this would be why they would patch it. However I really feel the 30 meter max limit of zoom is so lame and they should allow it to 50 in the interface. I have been playing with 50+ for almost 2 years now and if I suddenly had to go back to 30 I'd really cry it's just too close you can't see what you're doing half the time if it was at 30 ffs.

HOWTO bypass the 50 limit:
As previously stated, the 50 limit is hardcoded into WoW and you cannot zoom out further within the game itself. Rewad gave instructions on how to bypass the limit by editing the camera-settings.txt file, but the problem with this is that when you try to zoom out further with the mousewheel, the distance switches immediately back down to 50 and you have to relog and re-edit the file again. There is a better way, however.

SET cameraDistanceD ''250''
(Note: that's double quotes around the number.)

What are YOU talking about? I've been using this for our latest guild kill-movies. Really nice promotional material. Even though it means it's a bit hard to control everything you do when the camera is far off into some corner to make a nice view for the movie ^^Originally Posted by ******osis
