Tip for Lurker Below

Last night when I was doing SSC with my guild and we were doing The Lurker Below and I kept getting knocked into the water I started wondering if I could avoid it somehow so I placed myself betwen the torches and Lurker like you would during portal phase with netherspite and when I got knocked I first hit the torch-pole and it broke the Knock Back so I didnt land in the water and sometimes not so far away in the water.
This might take some practise to execute it with precision but when its mastered its really worth it since you can keep healing in my case.
