[Tank] Don't lose aggro on Marrowgar fight (bonestorm)

Before I start, for flamers and trolls I -did- use search engine. Looked up - "Marrowgar", "Marrowgar Taunt", "Marrowgar Exploit", "Taunt Exploit" Nothing related to this showed up.

Hai guys I haven't contributed in a long time so I decided to post this little trick my guild and I use for ICC10 and 25. On marrowgar, as most of you know, there is a part where he uses "Bonestorm" where he goes around and spins and does AoE damage. When he finishes, especially in 25 man, many people will die because of his cleave because they will be standing in front of it after he finishes, or because tanks had to move to regain aggro and move him back to center or tank him in a different spot. We have been doing this as a guild almost since release but I pugged a few times recently and people were surprised that it worked, and said that it shouldn't.

I do not know in particular if this is "working as intended" as everyone says nowadays, but during the Bonestorm, aggro does -not- reset (at least as of yesterday which is when we last tested). This means that warriors can taunt, deathknights can deathpull and use their taunt, paladins can use their shield throw spell and whatnot WHILE HE IS BONESTORMING and their aggro will be the highest. As soon as bonestorm ends the boss will run straight to the tanks where they were origionally standing and the fight can continue without movement, death, and mass pandemoneum.

Even if this is "working as intended" (which i dont think it is), lots of people dont know about this and it can make the fight a hell of alot easier.

    Thanks for reading!

I noticed this the first time I tanked him. He is meant to reset aggro when he does bonestorm, I don't think they intended to prevent taunting / aggro on him during the bonestorm.

This probably means that he drops aggro right after he starts the bonestorm, and after that he starts back on a normal threat table during the rest of the bonestorm duration. Probably not exactly working as intended but not sure if it's really much of an exploit. Nevertheless it's a useful tip.

From what i was told by PUG groups, he is supposed to reset aggro right when bonestorm ends and tanks have to taunt, which is why mine is so much easier because DPS doesn't have attacking since tanks already have aggro

Would not work because the aggro stays the same while he is doing his whirlwind. Then as SOON as he stops the aggro resets, so all the aggro you build up during the bone storm will just be reset

This is so far from being an exploit :/

Sorry, i'm not flamming or anything...it just make sense Oo the aggro drop is only when the bonestorm is cast (Go read the spell's details on wowhead) then, you can already climb back aggro when he is spinning;..You haven't to be passive in this moment.
If you taunt later in the spin, well, you'll NATURALLY will gain the highest aggro scored by your dps

As of a test, you can install Omen & look at the aggro drop ^^

In my raid, it's often that some mage get the aggro climbed up, I just taunt late in the twist period & gain the Exact ammout he had stored (the....natural function of a taunt)

It's a guide for those who don't know what is a taunt, or, indeed, those who didn't get acknoledgment of the fight & didn't knew the aggro reset was at the start of the bonestorm, not at the end

Thanx for contributing, i'm just describing why i must disagree

Is Marrowgar even worth needing help from anything? Avoid ground effects and cleave effects, Easy.

lmfao all that and it was just a game fix...
but still I suppose there are tons of people who don't actually know this, but then again if your a worth-mentioning tank.... you would know this...

The fight is alrdy that simple, just taunt when bonestorm ends = win.
I kinda love this boss, as my best friend is top dps, and I'm tanking (evilface)
He always seems to run faaaaar away (cry)

"Oh shit zippy's tanking, I'm not doing this"

"Fear, is the true opiate of combat"

And this is when I kick people from the raid.
