I actually received a mail like this not long ago, the mail wasn't that far off 2, it was from [email protected] instead of [email protected] the first thing that caught me was that it actually said "blizzard entertainment" as the mail recipient before i opened the mail, no other blizzard mail has said that:P but when i was gonna check out the site it was locked for me (the norwegian internet crime police thingy had blocked it, i lol'd)

I get spammed 1-2 a day now. However a few months ago I had an odd one. Blizz send an email to me saying that my password was reset due to a request made by me. I tried logging in game using my usual password and it didn't work which then I try the new one that the scammer resetted and it works. Needless to say I changed the password quickly.

Thanks for the heads up mate.
Even tho the scammers are fairly obvious these days, it doesn't hurt to have some knowledge around the methods they are using.

Same as myself I've been getting approx. 2-3 emails a day for the past month.

Some of the emails look pretty dodgy and you can tell it's a fake from the spelling mistakes, font, format of the email.

Other ones seems like they've used the Blizzard templates and in the email message it will ask you to click a link to verify your information.

    Things to take note of
    - Official Blizzard email would normally open with your Username or First Name in the opening line of the message

    - Spelling mistakes, front different from usual, email too short and not paragraphed.
Blizzard uses templates for all their emails, therefore the emails will most of the time look the same and consistant. There should not be any spelling mistake within a link within the email itself

    - Address for the link within the link are extended / too long / misspelt
    (IE. OpenDNS / OpenDNS)

    - Links which you can click within the email are or do not match the hyperlink address.
(IE. Link within the email displays World of Warcraft Community Site : Hyperlink displays as worldofwarcraf.com)
If you took notice it's missing a letter or one of the letters are replaced or misspelt.
I received one of these when the scam emails started pouring in.

For those who don't know how to see where the link is pointing to, you can hover your mouse over the link within the email.
Then depending on your browser, it should display the hyperlink of where the actual address is pointing to.
Most of the time you would have it on the bottom left of your web browser if you're using Internet Explorer or Firefox

Also Firefox is you're friend, it will normally stop you and report the page as "Reported Web Forgery!"
When you attempt to navigate to the page

There are plenty of scam emails going around but the easiest way to regocnize scam email is that where the link from the email takes you where you usually "need to confirm your information" If its not blizzards website then ignore the mail

Same here, why this thread is so strange.

Check your spam, especially if using Gmail and see if you do have one.

Also, next time read the thread?

    Filter = work's like a charm

If you are using GMAIL follow these instructions =)

    1. Go to settings up on top
    2. Click on Filters
    3. Click on Create a new filter
..1) Leave everything blank BUT "Has the words".
..2) In "Has The Words field" put in worldofwarcraft-account-certification
    ..3) Hit Next Step
..4) Have "Delete it" checked and hit "Create Filter"

    4. Click on Create a new filter (Again)
..1) Leave everything blank but "Subject".
..2) In "Subject Field" put in World Of Warcraft-Account Instructions
    ..3) Hit NExt Step
..4) Have "Delete it" checked and hit "Create Filter"

    .5 Enjoy
