I have this happen to me a few times. Not using that particular method though.

Plus I see that in the log I was suppose to get double the coin from the mob, but never really checked my balance before or after.

I have auto loot turned on so when i click the corpse it loots everything. Well alot of the time I am trying to power through mobs and don't take the time to fully watch the bag open. It is sort of like a running loot.

Sometimes it happens and sometimes it does not. I will see if I can find a way to make it happen more often as well as the loot/mount thing.

On a side note I have never seen an item do this only coin....

Exactly what he said. I did this before but I never checked to see if I got the money twice. I just kinda looted the corpse and jumped up in the air and I took the money but I could loot it again. It only works once per corpse though.

Bolt of silk isn't channel effect, it just have a cast time

Can happen when pick pocketing as well. Spam pp button and log shows it picking a bunch, but no extra money.
