It does work and yes it is fun but you can eaisly get banned.
My freind did it once and we were flying in the middle of nowhere and he got a gm wisper saying he saw him flying without a mount and if he did again he would be banned.
So then my other freind did this and instantly got a 3 hour ban without warning.

Overall it is fun but only fly around for the heck of it or you will get banned if you go near any one
